So you are thinking about starting a home online business. But not 100% sure where to start.

There are some crazy adverts on Google where you can apparently make a 5000 withinin a week of starting…mmm sounds a bit strange right?

However you can be sure that there is good money to be made on the internet in legitimate ways.  Yes some are new ways but they are still legitimate.  North America is way ahead on the curve here.  Typically over 300 people each day search for “How to start an online business”.

As an entrepreneur with several businesses the newest addition being an online business I too surfed the internet and saw some real rubbish out there.  I know that Google in the last 6 months has stricter advertising rules which has certainly helped.

The five things you need to know when starting your search are:-

1. There is no such thing as a Get Rich Quick Scheme.  Yes some powerful online systems have almost unbelievable results. Some people within 3 to 6 months have incredible success and yes this is in many cases true. But if anything is marketed as a Get Rich Quick Scheme – run a mile!

2. Check out the leaders of the online business.  Who are they exactly? What are their values? What is their vision for the online business moving forward.

3. Don’t be afraid to opt in on the pages which you can relate to. There is usually no harm in giving your name and email address.  Any credible business which have a privacy policy and allow you to unsubscribe at anytime.

4. Be sure to have phone contact at some point in the sales process.  The real leaders will allow you to join them on a live webinar.

5. Remember an online business like any other business requires hard work and dedication.  Think about the “why” really hard.  Why do you want to start an online business?

The “why” needs to be big enough – of course money does come into it but money is not a big enough “why”.  I get to play football with my 3 children every afternoon – that’s my why.  What’s yours?
