Starting a Business Using the Slight Edge

The Slight Edge represents so much for us. In this series of articles we will be dissecting the book and applying its teachings to our online home business opportunity. The book teaches you how to achieve success in your life and we want to be able to use the philosophies contained within the book to help our team members to become so much more successful than they currently are.

The statistics for business owners today are stark. If you are considering starting a business, have started a business and have questions or feel that you may have made the wrong decision about starting your business, then I think that this series of articles will help you.

So many people end up starting a business and fail. The statistics tell you that 80% of small business start up’s fail and if you go online, the figure jumps to 95%. Why is this and how can we avoid it.

Using the Slight Edge Book, by Jeff Olson, we will examine the characteristics of successful people and we will directly apply those characteristics to those required by our team members.

Very often, business owners start a new business and do no research. I’m not talking about research into their product or service or their customer type. No – they do no research into what it takes from THEM personally to be successful. Who do they have to be. Who do they have to become. The difference between success and failure is often only a few degrees.

The reason so many people do not carry out this research is because:

a. it never crossed their mind

b. The felt that their product or service would sell itself

c. The worked under incorrect knowledge

d. They did not have a longer term plan

e. They did not seek or have any mentor

f. The thought they knew it all.

Each of the above will be covered in the book and we need to use these to help all our team members who are starting their business for the first time.

Just looking at the list above, how critical do you think each line on that list is. I can assure you that it is the difference between success and failure. It’s the difference between wealthy and poverty. It’s the difference between being able to leave a legacy versus leaving a mountain of debt.

By thinking abundantly, we will want every business owner to succeed. We know they will succeed if they understand and apply properly the principles of success. If we can show them how to apply the principles contained within The Slight Edge directly to themselves and their business, they will certainly move into the “high Probability of Success” bracket of people.

Enjoy the slight edge series and welcome on board
